An addition to an existing home, the curved structure encloses a second floor printmaking studio and a first floor garden room extension of the existing living room. To be constructed on a moderate-size residential lot, the building form provides privacy from a neighboring home and thermal protection for the north wall. The addition opens up on the south side to the owner’s backyard and for solar light. The nearby mountains will be viewed from a new roof deck.
